Terms & Conditions
Due to the overwhelming response from dozens of PR agencies and numerous brands who approach us on a weekly basis, SLOAN! magazine has made the following changes to our policy regarding product samples sent after 1st June 2016 to maintain the quality of the magazine. This policy includes Event and/or Hospitality invitations.
Products sent in to the magazine will be classified into one of three categories and dealt with accordingly. For types of coverage you can expect from each category please click here.
Category A – Non-returnable product samples less than £100 and all loan samples
Although anyone is free to send products in, Category A products will be judged solely on the quality of the product and user experience compared to similar products we have tried. We look for good quality products that live up to their marketing and brands we are happy to stand behind. All products in Category A receive either a social media mention, an online review or product placement in a roundup or photo story unless upgraded to feature in SLOAN! Magazine itself. For examples click here. Please note items at this level cannot be guaranteed to feature in a post purely on their own. Feel free to check out some of the products we have previously reviewed to see what we look for and our different styles of coverage.
Online coverage of Category A products are NOT guaranteed and neither is inclusion in the digital magazine. An online coverage will only be featured if the product scores over 7 out of 10 once reviewed by a member of the SLOAN! team. Review scores are not always published especially if featured as product placement or round up. The Editor-in-Chief ultimately decides which products are featured in the digital magazine based solely on the quality of the product and the fit with our readers. If you are given inclusion in the upcoming issue of SLOAN! and your product is less £100 this will be in place of an online review, placement or social media mention and as part of editorial coverage. Please note you can discuss extra coverage with our sponsored content team.
We aim to be able to feature at least 9 out of 10 of the received products either online or in SLOAN! so we do ask you to consider the quality of your product and the expectation of an AB demographic before sending in or suggesting your product so that we can all work together effectively to promote the correct brands that have the right fit with our readers. Only the Editor-In-Chief can promise inclusion, although if the product does not live up to its advertising we will regrettably be unable to feature it as the integrity of the magazine is paramount.
Category B – Non-returnable product samples more than £100 and less that £250
These products are guaranteed at least an online placement and will be considered for first priority inclusion in the magazine itself with the majority of all products sent in this category included in the magazine. Online coverage is defined as either an online review or product placement in a round up or photo story. If you are chosen to appear in SLOAN! magazine then you are not guaranteed both online and SLOAN! coverage but may still get both. For examples of coverage click here. Inclusion in the magazine itself is still based on product score and fit for our future features but we would be looking to feature the samples in either online or SLOAN! Please make sure before sending in such a product you have an e-mail from one of our team confirming that we are able to accept your item. Please note you can discuss extra coverage with our sponsored content team.
Category C – Non-returnable product samples over £250
These products are guaranteed inclusion in the next issue of SLOAN! Where applicable and if a good fit with our social media we will be aiming to push all Category C products out to our followers which currently exceeds 280,000 combined. Please make sure before sending in such a product you have an e-mail from one of our team confirming that we are able to accept your item. Please note if you wish to appear online as well you can discuss extra coverage with one of our senior team.
Please note that all parties, launches, reveals, press days and other events will have coverage by Instagram stories. Invitations to events and attendance do not guarantee you inclusion in SLOAN! or online. If you require more coverage this would need to be signed off by a senior editor and specifically agreed in writing.
Competitions and Sponsored Posts
Competition prizes, sponsored posts and any service provided or press trip/events offer are to be agreed separately and do not fall into any of the above categories.
We of course are happy to take requests for the amount and type of coverage you would like and we will bear this in mind. However the editor’s decision is final and will be made according to the quality of the product, the price point and the consideration given compared to other brands that issue. Please do not send in your product if you need more coverage than the amount we can guarantee as specified in each category.
- Category A receive either a social media mention, an online review or product placement in a roundup or photo story unless upgraded to feature in the next issue of SLOAN! which will replace any online coverage
- Category B products are guaranteed at least an online placement if not in the next issue of SLOAN! However, they will be considered for first priority upgrade to inclusion in SLOAN! instead of an online placement
- Category C products are guaranteed inclusion in the next issue of SLOAN! with the aim to have a social media push once the issue is out
- Parties, launches, reveals, press days and other events will have coverage by Instagram stories.
- If Category A,B & C products appear in the latest issue of SLOAN! then any additional coverage such as online reviews will need to be discussed with our senior team and/or additional consideration given.

Please note: Your coverage is offered for free on the understanding that no costs are incurred. If any costs are incurred during reviews, the Editor reserves the right to pull coverage at her discretion until costs are reimbursed.
