Following a £20m complete top to toe refurbishment The Bellhouse Hotel will officially open its doors as Crowne Plaza Gerrards Cross from the Thursday 24th September. Having been inaugurated into the Crowne Plaza portfolio the hotel promises to deliver the quality and trusted service synonymous with the Crowne Plaza brand, which is about putting its guests needs first and setting guests up for a successful stay, but with a very distinct identity.
Described as “a celebration of both town & country” the 138-bedroomed four-star hotel, spa and events centre is set at the base of the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Beauty and is just 17mins1 from the centre of London providing the ideal weekend retreat for city dwellers seeking an escape, or business trip base.
The Crowne Plaza Gerrards Cross boasts an impressive list of individual parts adding up to one unforgettable experience. In-keeping with the hotel’s rich automotive history, BMW Group subsidiary Designworks were called upon to devise innovation principles for the extensive meeting and events space; a first for a branded hotel. Providing the perfect venue for weddings, conferences or events, this 6500sqm ‘styled with substance’ space features two large conference and banqueting spaces seating up to 350 and 260 persons respectively, 6 meeting rooms, Creative Attic, breakout bar and landscaped garden.
The 138 bedrooms are spacious with contemporary furnishings and luxury touches such as complimentary mini bars, Espa toiletries and LED Smart TVs. The décor contrasts bright blocks of uplifting orange with warm walnut wood, and crisp, white inviting bed linen with classic, stylish textured herringbone throws. Rooms are available from £140 for a standard double up to a Junior Suite.
Most of all the hotel offers a discretion of service, and attention to detail that pre-empts requests, considers every eventuality and serves without distraction – a truly distinctive offering.
Crowne Plaza Gerrards Cross Hotel is operated by privately owned company The Cairn Group. In 2013 the Group began an £20m refurbishment of The Bellhouse Hotel to create Crowne Plaza Gerrards Cross; a 138- bedroomed four-star hotel, spa and events centre.
The Cairn Group was set up in the early 1980’s as a premier hotel operator and now runs 23 hotels nationwide. The hotels are centrally located in major cities such as London, Manchester and Edinburgh. The Group has spent over £40m acquiring and improving assets over the past 5 years and has increased employment from 1,000 to 1,700 during this time. They have a fantastic relationship with IHG & Quarter Group and recently collaborated on The Kensington Quarter Café a brand defining food and beverage concept at Hotel Indigo Kensington.
It has a host of complimentary extras from the Club Lounge (for members or customers in a club room), SPA facilities, gym, juice bar and the fabulous 1269 restaurant.
Entering our room we were greeted with a fair size room decorated in an autumnal colour scheme.
On our pillow was a little token

We found more surprises in our fridge. A selection from the mini bar is complimentary in certain rooms
But there was no need to raid the mini bar just yet as the Club lounge serves complimentary canapes.
They also serve soft drinks, a variety of popcorn, nuts, vegetable crisps, fruit, hot drinks and between 17:30 and 19:30 they offer a selection of alcoholic drinks as a gift to you. The bar includes Bulmer ciders, a selection of white, rose and red wines, Heineken, Havana club, Jack Daniels, Gordon’s gin, Smirnoff, Alcoholic ginger beer, prosecco, Bells, Appletons rum, with classic mixers with coke, ginger ale, pineapple juice, tomato juice, and still and sparkling water. There is also Soya milk for those who wish to stay away from dairy.
I challenged my companion to a game of chess, there is a small selection of games available from draughts, scrabble and monopoly.
After a predinner drink we made our way to the hotel restaurant. To read our review of 1269 click here.

The SPA was a typical ESPA spa. It has a high standard for a non-cosmeticeutical treatment. It was relaxing, refreshing and does what it says in the leaflet but this is not to be confused with a medispa. The therapists were delightful, helpful, very knowledgeable and allow you to relax or chat whatever you see fit.
I loved my treatment and after chilling out in the spa, we were all relaxed and refreshed. The perfect way to start the week.
