Five real life heroes have come together with a leading fragrance house to create the first ever fragrance developed by a team of veterans. Help for Heroes, Xtreme, The Fragrance (£30, 100ml) is a rugged, masculine, concentrated aftershave for men.
The five ex-service men (L-R) Steve McCulley, Dan Richards, Clive Smith, Corbin Mackin and Karl Hinett were all affected by life changing injuries or illness resulting from their service in the British Armed Forces. All five are members of the Help for Heroes’ Band of Brothers which offers lifelong support to servicemen and women.
When these real life heroes set out to create Xtreme, they wanted it to smell unlike any other men’s fragrance. Their mission was to create an assertive fragrance that the everyday man would want to wear time and time again, but which is ruggedly masculine and irresistible to the nose!
Steve, Dan, Clive, Corbin and Karl worked with Marianne Martin, a senior perfumer and fragrance lecturer from the London College of Fashion. Marianne shared her expert knowledge with the men to enable them to understand the fragrance creation process, the ingredients and the physiology and psychology of smell.
The magic of this fragrance begins with the beautifully weighty hip flask that allows the scent to be splashed into the hand and directly applied, giving it a traditional, yet timeless feel. The men chose a modern, yet timeless fragrance peppered with hot spice and rugged smoky woods diffused with amber and a touch of black leather. This masculine scent is topped with a fresh citrus herbal accord of lemon and basil reminding your hero of the wild outdoors.
One of its main constituents is a derivative of the precious ingredient amber. Blended with a strong kick of pepper and spice, this woody, musky scent is so good that it would suit every man.
£3 from the sale of each bottle of Xtreme The Help for Heroes Fragrance, will be donated to Help for Heroes which supports injured members of the Armed Forces and their families.
Corbin Mackin says: “From the first splash of our finished fragrance I was hooked. It’s the sort of fragrance that smells gorgeous on everyone who tries it, and has real lasting power, too.”
Marcus O’Shea, Head of Brand Partnerships at Help for Heroes says: “We think ‘the blokes’ have come up with a real winner with the first Help for Heroes fragrance. With £3 donated from the sale of each bottle of Xtreme, this incredible collaboration will raise funds to support their fellow wounded.”
Robin Taylor, Managing Director of CorinCraft, the fragrance house behind Xtreme said: “We are incredibly proud to be associated with Help for Heroes. We are in awe of the amazing work that they do to support British servicemen and women injured in the line of duty. We hope that Xtreme, the Fragrance will help raise further awareness and the sales will raise valuable funds to support this remarkable charity.”
Help for Heroes offers comprehensive support to those who have suffered life-changing injuries and illnesses while serving our country. This support is provided through grants direct to our Heroes and their families, grants to other charities and through four Help for Heroes Recovery Centres across the UK. A study in September 2014 by Help for Heroes and the Royal College of Psychiatrists found that 75,000 men and women may need long term support following our involvement in the recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The fragrance for men is available exclusively in Debenhams stores nationwide and online at www.debenhams.com. Also available to buy from www.helpforheroesfragrance.com. £3 from the sale of every bottle donated to Help for Heroes.
