Jimini’s Edible Insects

Jimini’s – the Premium edible insect brand – was launched in 2012 by long-term friends and entrepreneurs, Bastien and Clément, who were inspired by the hit reality TV show I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! They wanted to taste the insects for themselves, but thought it best to add a little natural flavouring and so Jimini’s began to take shape. Following countless hours spent in the kitchen taste testing with friends, it was the crunchy, flavoured appetizer which proved to be most popular.

Bastien and Clément, spotting the health and environmental benefits of insect consumption, made it their mission to integrate insects into the diets of Europeans as well as educate and inform shoppers of this sustainable and, thanks to them, tasty alternative source of protein. Jimini’s range of edible insects includes naturally flavoured crickets, grasshoppers and mealworms, sold as appetizers, organic dried fruit & almond bars made using cricket flour and agave syrup, all of which are low in fat and sugar.

Each insect naturally contains high levels of protein as well as omegas 3 and 6. In addition to being a healthy and natural source of food, eating insects has recognised environmental benefits. Undemanding of water and nutrients, insect farming requires very little raw materials in comparison to animal farming which heavily demands large amounts of land and high levels of raw materials.

Jimini’s introduced edible insects to both French and Belgium consumers, who responded very positively. Jimini’s is now stocked in over 250 retailers and hopes to repeat success gained in the UK. Bastien and Clément have carefully crafted their flavour combinations and are entrepreneurial drivers of the insect food trend. Jimini’s products tick all the boxes; they are healthy, tasty and a bit nuts!

Jimini’s range, currently stocked in Fortnum & Mason, Selfridges, Planet Organic and Partridges is stylishly packaged within boxes made using 50% recycled cardboard. All insects used to create the naturally flavoured appetisers, dried fruit & almond bars are 100% natural and bred in specialised farms in Europe before being taken to France for flavouring. No artificial colourings or preservatives are used and all manufacturing takes place in Vaux-le-Penil near Paris, ensuring premium quality and optimal product traceability. All All Jimini’s insects are raised in Europe and flavoured in France.
