Liberation Nuts

Liberation Foods state: “Liberation Foods HQ, the UK’s only Fair Trade and farmer owned nut company, will be getting the summer off to a nut-tterly delicious start with the launch of the ever- sonew Oven Baked Mixed Peppercorn Peanuts with Cashews & Habas Fritas. vailable from August 2014, these hot, spicy mixed peppercorn coated peanuts are speckled with ground peppercorns, packing a real peppery taste! Not forgetting the Habas Fritas, these broad beans have been deep fried and seasoned with salt to create a crispy, crunchy and golden roasted snack.”

“After scouring the globe and picking the brains of our nut farmers for inspirational recipes and combos to create a mix of nuts that could match the moreish-ness of our Oven Baked Chilli & Lime Cashews with Peanuts & Roasted Corn (known to leave taste buds tingling) – the NEW Oven Baked Mixed Peppercorn Peanuts with Cashews &Habas Fritas make for an unusual and delicious snack. True to Liberation’s beliefs, all nuts are sourced from co-operatives of small-scale growers and farmers who own a 44% share of the company. With peanuts coming from Nicaragua and Malawi and cashews all the way from India, Liberation is passionately nuts about Fairtrade, the livelihoods of its farmers and providing the best tasting product.”

The first thing that caught our eye about Liberation’s nuts were the funny nut characters on sample packets. The second thing was the prominent Fairtrade label. It’s great to see UK companies supporting the livelihoods of small foreign producers. What’s even better is when a company with such lovely ethical credentials  also produces a lovely product and this is very much the case with Liberation’s new Oven Baked Peppercorn Peanut with Cashews & Habas Fritas. It was obvious from the first taste that this snack has been lovingly and sympathetical created. The peanuts and cashews are obviously roasted separately and have thir own unique flavours. The addition of crunchy savoury Habas Fritas is inspired. We thoroughly enjoyed these nuts and can see why celebrities like Harry Hill support the great work that Liberation Foods do to create wonderful taste sensations and improve the lives of their farmers and producers around the developing world.
