Knightsbridge based facialist Linda Meredith counts some very famous and beautiful faces amongst her many fans including Gwyneth Paltrow, Victoria Beckham, Madonna, Stella McCartney, Emma Thompson and Penelope Cruz.
Linda Meredith is sought after because her products and facials work. They are results based and exceptionally effective. She goes against the grain however when it comes to your average celebrity beauty guru. In fact, her philosophy of good skin differs dramatically from those who believe that looking good is a matter of lining up the right combination of Botox, fillers, laser and chemical peels. Linda believes in what some might call an old school approach: the most vital thing you can do for your appearance is to look after your skin with effective facials, consistent home care and good quality products.
Linda says, “Looking after you skin at home and understanding that you are feeding your skin as you feed your body with food, with products which it needs to absorb, is terribly important. Like our body, our skin needs a combination of nutrients which is why I have created a range of products where we layer them on one after the other, depending on what your skin needs.”
And as someone who has worked on skin for over 45 years, Linda adds, “Throughout the last half century our lifestyles have dramatically changed, and that has had a knock on effect on our skin. I have seen with my own eyes that there are more skin problems now than ever before – but superficial methods from a dermatologist like antibiotics, the pill and dangerous medications like roacutaine only mask the problem when it might be a simple change of diet or lifestyle that could be the answer.”
Linda is also very much opposed to the one product fits all: for oily or dry or combination skin. Or that what works for you would necessarily work for someone else. Her approach is bespoke. She says, “We now live in a world particularly in London where we have a huge mix of ethnicities. Most people do not understand that every nationality, regardless of age has a different genetic skin, fat volume, and thickness of the surface layers. The reason this is important is that many of the disasters that I have seen over the years happen because a client regrets a treatment she tried on the advice of a friend for whom it had worked well. Always bear in mind that what works for one does not necessarily work for another.”
As we age, changes occur in the skin and certain parts of the face are prone to particular problems, especially related to diet. Linda says, “We are all going through a transition period that you could call evolution but it is happening too quickly and our bodies are trying to adapt with unfortunate side effects. Hormones in food, poor diets and air pollution for example have taken quite a toll on the face. I have seen such a difference in skin in the past 45 years you can’t imagine. Nothing can teach you more than practical experience, and working on clients every day over the past several decades has been quite an eye opener. Simple diet and lifestyle changes can make such a dramatic difference when dealing with skin problems – for example if you get little red spots on your chin you may be eating too much fruit or if your skin produces a lot of oil you should restrict dairy. Combining that with a better understanding of how to look after your skin as it ages, this is undoubtedly the way forward for skin care in the 21st century.”
Linda Meredith has worked in the beauty industry for over 40 years. Throughout that time she has noticed a dramatic change in how our skin is evolving, researching what is caused these changes, it became very clear that in the last 60 years toxins are a major factor. Linda Meredith has earned the title “ Queen of Facials” since opening her exclusive salon in Knightsbridge, London. Her treatments and skin care products have attracted more celebrities from the world of fashion, music and film than any other salon establishing an International reputation.
