SLOAN! Magazine appreciates that runners are looking for the best running shoes available to help them train and compete. The Cloud from On Running with Zero-Gravity foam and On’s patented Swiss CloudTec® technology is the lightest running shoe in the world, with outstanding cushioning and impact protection. These running shoes will allow you to experience the combination of a soft landing with an explosive takeoff for an unbelievably light running sensation.
Although jogging and running have always been popular forms of exercise, our bodies are not in fact designed to run on hard surfaces. To tackle this dilemma for dedicated runners out there, On reinvented the running shoe to put you one step ahead of evolution. These Swiss running shoes use clever rubber pieces – called “Clouds” – cushion your landing and then disappear completely for a natural run and a powerful pushoff. With On Cloud running shoes you are guaranteed a unique combination of comfort and speed.
Having recently reviewed On Cloudrunner, when SLOAN! Magazine was asked to review the On Cloud we immediately said yes as we were more than familiar with just how good these Swiss running shoes can be and we were certainly not disappointed. On Cloud running shoes are recommended for runners who want a minimal shoe that is light and flexible with maximum cushioning making it ideal for both training and competition.
One of the first things we noticed was something we’re sure everyone will appreciate who has spent time huddled over their shoes tying laces. You can completely forget about lacing up your shoes thanks to the On Cloud easy-entry lacing system that can be specifically adapted to your foot. For those who prefer a snug fit, a conventional lace comes with every Cloud for tighter lacing.
The CloudTec® sole is formed from a superlight, flexible and responsive Zero–Gravity foam which provides the signature cushioned landing of all On shoes. Separated by a central channel which allows each Cloud element to move individually, the Cloud elements are affixed directly to a semi-transparent speedboard. The speedboard evenly distributes pressure to the 16 Cloud elements and shields the foot from water and soil. The CloudTec® sole also responds to your individual gait and deep flex grooves provide a natural range of motion and extreme flexibility. We also liked the fact that abrasion pads on the outsole ensure longevity.
Another feature we loved was the woven band around the back of the shoe which adapts to the movement of the foot and cradles the heel. A very important benefit when running long distances or intense sprints. The upper is made from breathable mesh providing the perfect foot climate. Shaft reinforcement supports your foot in the right places and reflective details ensure night visibility in the dark. Another interesting feature is the additional lace loops which allow for individual lacing helping you create a custom fit as much as possible.
Swiss triathlete Nicola Spirig won the gold medal at the Olympic Games in London in 2012 which many said was the most extraordinary finish ever witnessed in an Olympic triathlon. She is a fan of On Cloud and had this to say about the running shoe, “The Cloud is a hidden performer. Stylish and relaxed in appearance, it turns out to be an astonishingly fast and flexible running shoe that I now use regularly in my running training and in all races.”
SLOAN! Magazine highly recommends the On Cloud running shoes to anyone who is looking for a super lightweight shoe with maximum cushioning. They are available in a range of colours including new looks for 2015 such as Red/Flash, Blues/Yellow and Pacific/Sunset. Please visit www.on-running.com for more information and stockists.
