Leading bar and restaurant chain, Slug and Lettuce, has announced its partnership with Breast Cancer Care to help support anyone affected by breast cancer from day one. The brand is aiming to raise £50,000 by 14th December 2015. Slug and Lettuce will be donating 25p to Breast Cancer Care from their “Drink Pink” menu across all bars throughout the month of October. Cocktails available to the public at £7.95 include Raspberry Ripple Martini and the Strawberry Blush Martini.
Kate Wilton, Operations Director says: “Breast cancer affects thousands of families across the UK and we know how imperative it is for the charity to have the funds to support all that are impacted by this terrible disease. This is an important partnership for us – not only do we have the opportunity to inspire and encourage our colleagues and customers to come together and raise awareness and funds, we are also incredibly proud to be working with such an important cause”.
Andy Harris, Director of Fundraising and Marketing at Breast Cancer Care, adds: “We’re so grateful to Slug and Lettuce for fundraising in aid of Breast Cancer Care. The money Slug and Lettuce raises will help us provide a vital emotional support network to help thousands of people find a way to live with, through and beyond breast cancer. There are over half a million people living with the disease in the UK, and with more and more diagnosed every year, there’s never been such an urgent need for our support services.”
Not only are all bars across the country selling the “Drink Pink” menu, but individual bars are getting their staff members to come together and take part in activities and fundraising games to raise even more funds. Examples include the Bristol branch taking part in a sky dive, the North West division taking part in a Liverpool to Huddersfield bike ride and the head office Executive team walking from the Staines branch to their bar in Tower Bridge over two days. All bars will have tins displayed for extra pennies to be donated.
All funds raised will allow Breast Cancer Care to continue to provide its services for free.. Breast Cancer Care provides anyone affected by breast cancer with expert support and information. They understand the emotions, challenges and decisions breast cancer patients face every day – their team of nurses, specialists and volunteers are there to help anyone affected by breast cancer.
