The Petersham Restaurant is set within at The Petersham Hotel – a luxurious 4* hotel in Richmond. This stunning restaurant benefits from panoramic, floor-to-ceiling views overseeing the River Thames and Petersham Meadows. With the best seats in the house overlooking the famous bend in the Thames there’s no better place to enjoy a traditional Afternoon Tea with a twist.
The twist is Thames inspired cakes and pastries to mark September’s Totally Thames festival which takes place over September in celebration of Britain’s famed River Thames, offering an exciting season of arts, cultural and river events throughout the 42-mile stretch of the Thames in London.
For a limited time only, alongside the classic selection of finger sandwiches, traditional scones and award-winning loose-leaf teas from Novus, The Petersham’s Thames Tea will feature an innovative selection of Thames inspired pastries all designed by The Petersham’s talented Head Chef, Jean-Didier Gouges.
The finger sandwiches comprise of Scottish smoked salmon, cream cheese and chives; Egg and cress mayonnaise; Ham and Dijon mustard; and Classic cucumber.
As the quintessential component of any afternoon tea, both raisin and plain scones are served warm with West Country clotted cream and strawberry preserve.
The Petersham pastries consist of blackcurrant and crème “river” sponge in a delightful blue hue, bubble-gum and raspberry macaroons, lemon curd “boat” tartelette, a gateau opera “driftwood” alongside a slice of the more traditional fruit cake.
The Thames Afternoon Tea at The Petersham Restaurant is priced at £27.50 Monday to Friday and £29.50 Saturday and Sunday (add a glass of champagne for £12.75). For more information on Totally Thames, please visit totallythames.org
