Alsace is where the Pinot Gris grape shows it’s full potential. Pioneers in Organic methods, Domaine Mittnacht produce fine expressions of the Alsacian terroir.
Christophe Mittnacht and his cousin Marc run their 20 hectare vineyard based around Hunawihr and Ribeauvillé according to organic and natural principles.
Closely biodynamic, they farm organically, use wild yeasts and limit interventions in the cellar. The wines are at the drier end of the scale and have great purity and definition.
The Domaine Mittnacht Pinot Gris 2013 is off dry, with ripe citrus, pear and stone fruit with rich, aromatic palate and a long, balanced finish.
It is a petit grains (so called due to the very small berries) and is slightly nutty and spicy making it ideal for oriental cuisine such as spicy Thai dishes and rich Chinese seafood dishes.
