Ealing Park Tavern

Roaring log fires, satisfying British fare, and its very own microbrewery, The Ealing Park Tavern is an historic West London gem. Now reopen, following a stylish refurbishment, you’d be hard pressed to find a more handsome haven anywhere in London.

The latest boutique pub opening in leafy South Ealing from hugely successful London operator ETM Group features a bustling 60-cover restaurant, large welcoming bar, private dining room with adjoining cobbled courtyard, expansive walled garden and bustling brewhouse. Ealing Park Tavern is ETM Group’s 13th opening in London. Other venues include the award-winning The Gun, Docklands, The Jugged Hare in the City, One Canada Square in Canary Wharf, The Botanist on Sloane Square and The Cadogan Arms on the King’s Road.

The pub retains all of the traditional charm that secured its place in the London Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors alongside carefully-considered contemporary touches and of course ETM Group’s signature splash of taxidermy, including grouse, fox, moose and wild boar shot by Tom and Ed Martin themselves. Soft leather armchairs are tucked inside snugs throughout the bar and Saloon, surrounded by ornate oak panelling, period fireplaces and hand-selected antiquities, creating a cosy hideaway for whiling away the hours or pre-dinner drinks. In the dining room, exposed brickwork, teal banquettes, grand chandeliers and decorative wrought ironwork framing the bustling theatre kitchen make for a chic space for lunch, brunch or dinner come weekday or weekend.

Ealing PArk Tavern

The Brewery

Acknowledging its history back in 1728 when the site operated as the Lewis Furnell Brewhouse until the mid 1800s – Ealing Park Tavern is bringing back the art of brewing. Brewing bitters and pale ales as well as seasonal specialities on site, the Ealing Park Tavern microbrewery will provide its wares direct to the bar with the pub’s Brewmaster on hand for tastings, tutorials and beer and food matching dinners. The ‘Brewmaster’s Office’ can be hired for exclusive beer sampling gatherings, private parties and much more. Brewing is already well underway and will be ready for the first tastings in February.

The Food

Food shares the stage with the brews and Ealing Park Tavern’s Head Chef Matt Burgess selects the best produce of the season. Combat the cold with warming starters including chanterelle soup with cep sandwich or crisp Tavern croquettes of shrimp and bacon, black pudding and brawn.

Mains combine pub classics with delicious seasonal house specials and include a changing pie of the day with mash and gravy or chop of the day with greens. Select the best of either land or sea with Peterhead cod fillet, seashore vegetables and Shetland Isle mussels; pork belly, tripe and white bean cassoulet with fennel jam; or a rib ‘n’ shin burger with triple-cooked chips and harissa mayo. Sweet treats of jam doughnut holes with custard; sticky toffee fondant with cornflake milk sorbet; and lemon verbena posset with Garibaldi biscuit really hit the spot to round things off.

Weekend diners will be greeted with satisfying Saturday brunch favourites including soft shell crab ‘Benedict’ with jalapeño hollandaise and blueberry buttermilk pancakes, smoked streaky bacon, maple syrup and vanilla ice cream. Sunday lunch showcases sharing roasts specially created for groups of two, three, four or eight, including 12-hour slow-roast West Devon lamb shoulder and mint jelly and Tamworth suckling pig with apple caramel, all served with duck fat roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, roasted roots, greens and gravy.

Impeccably sourced raw ingredients that are central to ETM Group’s foodie philosophy are showcased on all Ealing Park Tavern’s menus from favoured niche suppliers Lake District Farmers, Yorkshire Game and seafood hand-selected by the team at the crack of dawn from Billingsgate Market.

The Drink

Staying true to its brewing roots, providing a top-notch beer selection is of paramount importance in Ealing Park Tavern’s large and spacious bar. Peruse the extensive list of more than 30 premium quality bottled and canned options including many one-off and limited availability brews. Cask ales promise to feature five hand pulls on rotation from all corners of the UK as well as local producers.

Man cannot live by hops alone so there is also an extensive list of international wines available by the glass, carafe and bottle, with extra special daily-selected fine wines by the glass. An excellent selection of whiskies and gins has been put to good use to create a refined cocktail selection that explores twists on contemporary classics. Lavender & Cherry Juleps, Peach Mojitos and Rum Old Fashioneds sit alongside the Tavern’s signature Ginger Brewski, an innovative and refreshing mix of Monkey Shoulder whisky, Jugged Hare pale ale, elderflower, ginger beer and mint.

The Oak Room – Private Dining

Groups looking to celebrate a special occasion can take full advantage of the large, flexible private room available for hire at the back of the bar. Seating from 10-40 guests, with standing room from 20-60, the private room enjoys plenty of daylight provided by floor to ceiling windows, oak panelled walls, stunning furnishings, its own private bar and an idyllic private cobbled courtyard that is perfect for pre-dinner drinks.

Smaller groups wanting to enjoy their own space while still enjoying the buzz of the main bar can book the various snugs which can be arranged to host from 10-20 guests. The full dining room can also be booked privately for large events, seating from 30-80 guests, and, if that’s still not meeting your space requirements, the entire venue can be reserved, seating parties from 80-150 or from 100-300 standing.

Take Things Al Fresco

The arrival of spring / summer 2015 will be accompanied by the exciting unveiling of Ealing Park Tavern’s charming walled garden. Ping pong tables, hammocks and six cabanas, perfect for private gatherings, takes the offering far beyond the average beer garden and there will be plenty of opportunities to enjoy barbeques (open to all or available for smaller private parties), hog roasts and guaranteed fun in the sun.
