G.H.MUMM Cordon Rouge Rosé Brut NV is the first rosé champagne created by iconic champagne brand and Royal Warrant holder, GH Mumm. Lively yet elegant in both taste and design, it offers an iconic rose watercolour motif and dynamic freshness.
G.H.MUMM’s very first rosé champagne was made in the 1860s and was called “Royal Rosé”. A century later G.H.MUMM Rosé adopted a now famous design: a beautiful rose, painted in watercolour by the great Franco-Japanese artist and friend of the House, Léonard Foujita, adorns the bottle. Within, notes of red berries expand into delicate scents of caramelised vanilla. The result is a luscious champagne dominated by Pinot Noir and created by Maison Mumm, a Champagne House whose founding mantra of providing “Only the best” continues today.
Like G.H.MUMM Cordon Rouge, G.H.MUMM Rosé is composed of 77 Crus; it is distinctive for the addition of red wines (between 12% and 14%) selected from villages producing outstanding Pinot Noirs such as Bouzy, Verzenay and Les Riceys. Complex and well defined, the remaining blend is dominated by Pinot Noir (60%), the House’s emblematic grape variety bringing strength and character. It is rounded off by the fruitiness, balance and liveliness of Pinot Meunier (18%) to reveal the full subtlety and elegance of Chardonnay (22%). The carefully balanced final dosage of 6 grams per litre makes this a brut champagne, while the 15 month period of cellar aging guarantees freshness and intensity in line with the House style.
G.H.MUMM Rosé is a fairly pale salmon pink in colour with light orange shades, its abundant bubbles form a delicate and lively froth. It has aromas of summer berries and pink grapefruit, with dominant notes of small fresh fruit such as strawberry, cherry and redcurrant, developing with light notes of vanilla caramel. After a lively and very energetic attack revealing aromas of summer berries, G.H.MUMM Rosé displays elegance, subtlety and freshness.
Although traditionalists would serve G.H.MUMM Rosé with summer berry desserts and biscuits roses de Reims, it is also a delicious match for seafood such as grilled lobster, marinated salmon and ethnic dishes like tajines.
According to Protocole N°70 of the Champagne Protocoles de G.H.MUMM, the rituals that introduce 21st century devotees to new ways of enjoying champagne, this Cuvée is a perfect accompaniment to smoked salmon, taramasalata and high quality ham. Protocole N°19 recommends serving it at an ideal temperature of 6°C to 8°C.
