City Cruises’ R.S Hispaniola provides a unique setting to dine in style. This permanently moored restaurant and bar is situated at Victoria Embankment, just opposite the London Eye, and looks out onto views of London’s most iconic sites.
Modern, stylish yet unpretentious, the Hispaniola Restaurant offers an a la carte and all-day menu to choose from, as well as a comprehensive wine list. Whether it’s for a business lunch, Sunday lunch with the family or an intimate meal for two, the combination of outstanding food enjoyed against the backdrop of London’s iconic sights and the River Thames makes the Hispaniola a perfect choice.
The food has a wide range of influences and has a unique twist to surprise and delight even the most discerning palate. Using only the freshest ingredients, the meals are carefully prepared and then presented to the highest standards to create dishes that look every bit as good as they taste.
Upper Deck Restaurant & Bar
The Upper Deck of R.S. Hispaniola, the iconic ship moored on the Thames, underwent a comprehensive refurbishment last year and has been re-launched the “Upper Deck Restaurant & Bar’. The contemporary design has created one of the most attractive ‘new’ spaces in London.
Hispaniola has always had one of the very finest views in London but now, on the Upper Deck, it has a cool new interior design too. This, coupled with a fantastic menu & wine list and great cocktails means that the Upper Deck Restaurant & Bar is a destination not to be missed.
Serving a range of dishes from Poached Salmon Rillettes, Beer Battered Cod Loin and Red Lentil & Aubergine there is something to suit all palettes.
Our wine and cocktail menus are equally exciting says General Manager James Bueno. You can try cocktails like Hurricane Laura, or our very own El Hispaniola but don’t be shy. If you have a favourite, just ask our waiter to mix it for you.
With its relaxed seating area looking out across the river, and friendly, efficient bar staff, our bar is the perfect location for that lunchtime drink or join us after work with friends and colleagues. Open until late, you can watch the sun go down and see London come alive at night.
The SLOAN! Review
Located near to Embankment tube station the Hispaniola is very easy to find. Depending on the state of the tide you can have a very interesting arrival as the gradient of the gang plank alters. Its a reminder that today you are dinning on a real ship!
Once aboard we sat down on the Thames to beautiful views of the London Eye and Big Ben. It was certainly interesting to watch the river traffic go by then feel the wake as they departed, to add to this authentic riverside experience. This is fabulous setting, full of potential romance be it a first date or an anniversary. It was lovely to see a group of ladies celebrating their friends 30th birthday. The atmosphere is light, friendly and inviting.
We were delighted to sample the new menu. I started with the foie gras which the chef combined with rhubarb and ginger bread. The culinary artistry in the dish was not the only delight. The flavour exploded like a coccophony of tantalising notes on my taste buds. My dining companion ordered the Wild Mushrooms served with stilton cream on toasted ciabatta starter which was generous and tasty.
For mains I chose the Lobster Thermidor served with triple cooked chips, and my dinning companion had the Corn Fed Chicken Breast with mushroom and tarragon stuffing.
For dessert we shared Chocolate Tart with vanilla Chantilly cream, selection of home made ice creams and sorbets see the gallery below for examples of what we had.
