Hush’s courtyard has often been hailed as one of the best alfresco dining spaces in Mayfair. Never one to rest on its laurels, the iconic space is has been transformed into a St Tropez summer haven with Hush Presents Riviera, a 1920s Art Deco-inspired extravaganza that brings all the glamour, sophistication and elegance of the Côte d’Azur to London’s West End, running until 8th September.
Hush Presents Riviera offers a special menu packed with seafood flavours synonymous with the Côte d’Azur against a backdrop of coastal-inspired sophistication with plenty of stripes, white table clothes, vintage bicycles, lemon trees, nautical artefacts and hurricane lamps filled with shells and candles.
Guests can feast on fresh French bread with sundried tomato tapenade and slow roasted tomato dips; fresh and succulent Fine de Claire oysters; prawn & avocado cocktail, Atlantic prawns, langoustines and lobster mayonnaise with sides of either hand cut chips with garlic aioli or tomato and red onion salad. These delightful dishes are all accompanied by, what else but, a glass of chilled Taittinger Brut Prestige Rosé or Taittinger Nocturne Sec Rosé.
We highly recommend the piece de resistance, a glorious Plateau de Fruits de Mer which consists of a whole lobster (halved), oysters, dressed crab, mussels, scallops, langoustines, prawns and sea snails.
The high quality seafood has a superb freshness that reminds you of summer holidays on the French coast and tastes so fresh that you’d be forgiven to thinking the oysters were shucked straight from an ocean tucked away somewhere in the well-heeled streets of Mayfair.
The dressed crab had a delicious combination of white and brwon crab meat whilst langoustines look as good as they taste.
Served with fresh lemons wrapped in muslin and plenty of Marie Rose sauce and Red Wine Vinegar & Shallots which are the ideal accompaniments with the succulent seafood.
This bountiful platter for two costs £38 per person without lobster or £58 per person with lobster.
To finish, indulge your sweet tooth with the Riviera menu’s irresistible Strawberry Glory – a creamy summer delight of fresh strawberries drizzled in Modena balsamic floating in a sea of champagne pastry cream.
Hush Presents Riviera is a sensational summer event held to celebrate the restaurant’s 18th birthday and the themed terrace is guaranteed to transport diners to Cannes, Nice and St Tropez, whatever the vagaries of the British summer. Hush Presents Riviera will run from now until 8th September.
