How does LiveSmart Work?

  1. Purchase the kit online. Receive a convenient home collection kit with detailed instructions. If you’d prefer to have your blood taken by someone else LiveSmart can arrange this. You can choose to have your blood taken at a lab and LiveSmart has over 100 locations in the UK you can use or for just £40 a professional phlebotomist will come to your home or office to take your blood.
  2. Send in a sample. Your pack includes a finger prick blood collection kit which you send back in a pre-paid envelope (also included).
  3. Get results and advice. Samples are analysed in the laboratory, LiveSmart’s NHS trained doctors evaluate results and make recommendations.
  4. Make improvements then retest. After reviewing your results, use the SMART Health Plan tool to plan how to make Specific, Measureable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely changes to your life. LiveSmart then provides support, encouragement and a way to track your progress in between Health Checks.

LiveSmart has found that 60% of those tested have high cholesterol, but only 5% were aware of it before. 25% of those tested were Vitamin D deficient and a staggering 96% had low Omega 3 levels. LiveSmart offers a way to find out if your vitamins are working for you – or if you need to rethink your lifestyle. Smart health plan

The philosophy behind LiveSmart is “proactive wellness”, allowing users to identify potential issues before they become problems. It’s 90% cheaper than Bupa and you don’t have to make an appointment on the NHS as the service includes advice and feedback from an NHS trained doctor.

Alex Heaton, founder of LiveSmart, says, “LiveSmart is as much more about motivation and health improvement as it is about making sure nothing is going wrong inside. We don’t believe in fear mongering but in helping people to take ownership of their own health data. We believe that too many people wait until there’s a problem and then try and fix it; we work to help people prevent things going wrong in the first place.”

If you are squeamish, we suggest having bloods taken at a lab as it can take a little while to collect the two tubes of blood as you need to “milk” the finger once you’ve pricked it. But apart from this the overall process is very simple and results are returned to you through the online dashboard within just a few days.

All the blood tests can be done at your registered GP surgery however the ability to order the LiveSmart Health Check online and post back your blood samples makes this much easier and quicker than having to book an appointment with your surgery’s phlebotomist or wait around at a walk-in clinic. It is also easier to monitor how your tests improve as all your results are stored on the secure LiveSmart dashboard and there are useful graphs to show you how well you are doing. The SMART Health Plan also makes improving your wellbeing less daunting and more structured.

The convenient and comprehensive Health Check at LiveSmart provides the first step towards taking control of your health.
