OKIEM, the pianist and composer who has taken the classical world by storm is set to perform at iconic London restaurant Quaglino’s next week on Thursday 21 September at 9pm. Bringing his signature classical charm with a contemporary twist to Mayfair, OKIEM will perform an array of compositions including tracks from his debut solo album XIRO.
Quaglino’s is one of the capital’s most iconic restaurants and late-night venues, offering contemporary European dishes and a celebrated cocktail menu. Offering a packed calendar of entertainment and live music every week, the venue’s previous performers have included Beverley Knight, Rebecca Ferguson and legends Marianne Faithful and Jocelyn Brown.
London born OKIEM began playing the piano from a young age when his parents realized he could play by ear. His music is described as ‘cinematic classical’, creating his unique sound by combining piano, orchestral instruments and synthesizers.
He has toured on keyboards for many of the biggest artists in the music industry from John Legend to Leona Lewis, Craig David, Jessie J and Tinie Tempah. This unique wealth of experience working with top class artists has helped to shape his unique sound, compositions, and astounding live performances that continue to captivate his audiences.
OKIEM also toured for three years with Russia’s biggest pop star Sergey Lazarev. During this time OKIEM wrote three songs for Lazarev’s album Electric Touch. His song was instantly selected as an award-winning soundtrack to the Hollywood film The Chronicles of Narnia.
OKIEM has been compared to composers such as Ludovico Einaudi and Olafur Arnalds. His contemporary take on the classical genre is expressed in his debut solo album XIRO which he recently launched and is now performing with his amazing string section at venues and events across the UK.
Leslie Kwarteng, Senior General Manager at Quaglino’s, says: “We are really looking forward to OKIEM’s bringing his emotive and powerful performance to Quaglino’s for the first time. His compelling show will leave our guests feeling mesmerised, it will be a night to remember here at Quaglino’s!”
