Seedlip, the world’s first distilled non-alcoholic spirit, solves the ever-growing need for a sophisticated alternative to alcohol for those not drinking. Shying away from the standard fruity and sweet offerings, Seedlip combines six individually-distilled barks, spices and citrus peels to create an adult and complex blend best sipped long with tonic or short with brine as a non-alcoholic martini.
Seedlip’s liquid history stems from an ancient book published in London in 1651 named The Art of Distillation, offering forgotten copper-stilled, non-alcoholic remedies now repurposed to pioneer a new non-alcoholic spirits category [Nalcs] relevant for the modern day.
Not a poor substitution for a cocktail, but a drink that allows those not drinking the same social rituals of ordering or making a gin and tonic, and bartenders the opportunity to work with an exciting base for non-alcoholic cocktails and aperitifs. Unique in its flavour, Seedlip delivers a sophisticated profile with strong clove and citrus top notes and a long finish drawing on the highest quality barks (American Oak & Bahamian Cascarilla), spices (Guatemalan Green Cardamom Pods & Jamaican Pimenta Berries) and citrus (Turkish Grapefruit Peel), all of which are distilled individually in copper pots. Lemon peel, from the Tucuman province in northern Argentina, is distilled at source in stainless steel pots and added as the final component to the blend.
Blended and bottled in England, Seedlip has created a coveted bespoke distilling process for each individual botanical. The distilling process means that Seedlip boasts only 0.2 calories per recommended 50ml serve, is sugar-free, sweetener-free, artificial colour- and flavour-free, making it the go-to option for those looking for a credible alternative to alcohol.
Seedlip’s Founder says: “My family’s 300-year farming heritage and a career working on drinks brands laid the foundations for the last two years spent working with distillers, growers and historians to create a solution to the what-to-drink-whenyou’re-not-drinking conundrum. The response from the trade has been overwhelming and Seedlip is being championed by the top industry names in the world – we can’t wait to get started!”
Seedlip is available to purchase at Selfridges and Selfridges.com and available to the trade through Speciality Drinks. Seedlip has an RRP of £29.99. Seedlip is available in 70cl bottles and cases of 6. Seedlip has an un-opened shelf life of one year and an opened back-bar shelf life of 4 to 6 weeks. It doesn’t require refrigeration.
