Peter Liversidge BSc (Hons), Cert HE, founder of Passion for Natural, is a scientist and creator of all the formulations in the range. SLOAN! Magazine asked Peter to give us his top tip for healthy springtime skin.
Peter told us, “Keeping your skin protected and hydrated in the springtime is essential in the lead up to the summer months. Firstly, I always recommend sunscreen, even during early spring as the sun can still burn your skin even if it is cold! As you have probably been hibernating and your skin won’t have been exposed to hot sun over the winter it may be more sensitive and prone to sun damage. If you are one of those early convertible top down drivers, you may want to avoid that red ‘convertible’ forehead. I suggest a minimum of a 30 Sun Protection Factor (SPF) on your face and neck, applied at least half an hour before you go outside. The UVA protection ideally should be at least a third of the labelled SPF – UVA rays penetrate deeply into the skin and can cause skin damage, such as wrinkling – so choose a sunscreen with a good UVA star rating.”
“We love the summer, however all that sun and heat can add up and result in our skin drying out, or being damaged by UV rays. If you do experience sunburn, then I suggest applying the highest grade Aloe Vera gel with natural Betaine to soothe, heal and hydrate the skin.”
