Stoke Place is a modern day country house located just outside London in Buckinghamshire. Housed in an impressive Grade II listed building and surrounded by 26 acres of parkland designed by the legendary Capability Brown, it provides an ideal place to take a reprieve from everyday life. But, more than just a getaway Stoke Place is now a gourmet destination too. Acclaimed chef, James Dugan is leading the kitchen in the new restaurant, Seasons at Stoke Place and has created a menu that champions the very best of what’s in season, celebrated across a selection of simple, flavoursome dishes that embody the very best of modern British cooking.
Having worked with Richard Corrigan at Lindsay House and more recently at Amberley Castle and Café Royal, James has definitely has some fine culinary experience! At Seasons at Stoke Place he has managed to combine the best of his experience with his personal passion for simple, seasonal food to create a menu that includes dishes such as Cornish Lamb Dumpling and Beans ‘n’ Toast for starters as well as Roast Partridge and Heritage Beef Fillet for main courses on the a la carte. A seven-course tasting menu is available allowing diners to enjoy James’ creativity.
Equally tempting is James’ bar menu, which offers an ideal light bite for those who don’t necessarily want the full dining experience. Dishes include home versions of Scotch Egg and Sausage Roll as well as traditional Cotswold Chicken Caesar Salad
Located on the ground floor of the hotel Seasons at Stoke Place seats 50 people and offers peerless views of the surrounding parkland. Never one to miss a culinary opportunity, James has made the most of this rural location with the seeding of a Kitchen Garden that will be in full bloom (and full flavour!) next Spring allowing for his dishes, in part, to be a journey direct from garden to plate. The restaurants’ wine cellar showcases some of the finest wines from around the world and has been recognised with an AA notable wine list for the past three years. Monthly wine dinners are held and a flight of wines can be organised to accompany James’ tasting menu.
The 39 bedrooms at Stoke Place have all been designed by owner Sarina Dhillon and they have succeeded in bringing the Country to the West of London. Bold wallpapers intermixed with a varying palate of earthy paint colours are carefully combined with luxury fabrics in varying textures. Divided into six room types; Standard, Garden, Executive, Cottage, Junior and Deluxe Suites, all are well sized with en suite bathrooms complete with all mod cons. Deluxe and Junior Suites offer fantastic views across the grounds as well as freestanding baths.
Guests can also make the most of the fabulous cycling routes around the hotel as well as the Stoke Poges cycling tour which features a 6.1 mile guided tour of Stoke Poges, an ancient parish in the locality. There are also glorious walks to be enjoyed as well as giant garden games to be played, dotted around the hotel’s gardens.
In addition to staying and dining, Stoke Place is also an ideal venue for a private function or wedding. The stunning grounds provide an ideal backdrop for your special day and James’s culinary acumen guarantees that no guest leaves hungry nor you disappointed. The house is also available for exclusive use, allowing you to enjoy all of the hotel’s facilities as if they were your own…..
